President's Message
Sujin Park

A new leadership has joined our Board in January of 2021, and I am honored to lead and look forward to serving KAIPBA as President.  I am humbled too, especially considering the many outstanding and inspiring past Presidents, officers, and sponsors who made incredible effort and support for the organization.  Our achievement would not have been possible without their dedication and continued support.

From its inception in 2007 as the first organization representing intellectual property attorneys of Korean heritage in the United States, KAIPBA has thrived with more than 100 members of various professions including IP attorneys, patent agents, USPTO examiners and Korean corporate IP delegates.  We are committed to providing valuable professional resources to the members and the Korean IP organizations and companies.  Each year, we provide our members with CLE opportunities on a broad array of topics and I have always been impressed with the quality and diversity of our programming.  We also co-hosted, with the Korean Intellectual Property Office, three IP Roadshow events in Korea since 2014 and an MPEP Boot Camp in Korea in 2019 that provided three full-day education seminars to in-house counsels.

When I first joined KAIPBA in 2009, I found it provided not only great networking and legal education opportunities, but also great new friends and mentors who have a variety of experiences and skill strengths to share.  Volunteering with KAIPBA on the Board levels provided me with a greater appreciation for what our organization offers.

The Board’s priorities will be to (1) engage our members to become even more involved with KAIPBA activities not only in Washington D.C. metropolitan areas but across the states and Korea, (2) help our members to grow professionally with our combined expertise and utilizing KAIPBA’s wide network, and (3) continue to serve as a liaison to Korea-based counterpart partners including the Korean Patent Attorneys Association and the KIPO.

In the years ahead, we will continue to grow in exciting, inclusive, and innovative directions and I am proud to be a part of it.

Best regards,

Sujin Park
