President's Message
Sung-Hoon Kim
President
I am honored and privileged to lead and look forward to serving as the 9th President of Korean American Intellectual Property Bar Association (KAIPBA).
KAIPBA is the first organization representing intellectual property professionals of Korean heritage in the United States with a rich legacy of excellence and service, and I look forward to continuing that legacy in 2023.
Since its inception in 2007, KAIPBA has thrived with more than 100 members of various professions including attorneys, patent agents, USPTO examiners, Korean corporate IP delegates, and a counselor for IP in Korean Embassy in Washington DC. We are committed to providing valuable professional resources to the members, the Korean IP organizations, and communities. Each year, we provide our members with CLE opportunities on a broad array of topics, and I have always been impressed with the quality and diversity of our programs. We also co-hosted, with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), three IP Roadshow events in Korea since 2014 and an MPEP Boot Camp in Korea in 2019 that provided three full-day education seminars to in-house counsels.
Like past Presidents, I intend to continue to engage our members to become involved with KAIPBA activities not only in Washington DC metropolitan areas but across the states and Korea, help our members to grow professionally with our combined expertise and utilizing KAIPBA’s wide network, and serve as a liaison to Korea-based counterpart partners including the Korean Patent Attorneys Association (KPAA), the KIPO, and various institutions in Korea.
In the years ahead, I look forward to working together and connecting with you. KAIPBA is here to serve our members and Korean IP communities. I welcome your suggestions, ideas, or questions.
감사합니다.
Best regards,
Sung-Hoon Kim
