President's Message
Steve Jaeyoun Kim

It is my honor and privilege to serve as the President of KAIPBA for a two-year term beginning January of 2019. As the very first organization representing the intellectual property attorneys of Korean heritage in the United States, we are committed and striving for the improvement and excellence of the profession. I am also joined by capable individuals on my leadership team who are also committed and are enthusiastic about the role we will play for the profession.

We are resolutely guided by our mission of: (1) representing and serving our members of their professional needs; (2) connecting a nation-wide network of Korean American IP attorneys and bar members in the United States; and (3) serving as a liaison to Korea-based counterpart IP organizations including the Korean Patent Attorneys Association as well as the Korean Intellectual Property Office.

Having recently celebrated a 10 year anniversary of the founding of the organization in 2017, KAIPBA has been steadfastly working towards our mission. Steadily growing membership of more than 100 active members of IP attorneys, patent agents, USPTO examiners and Korean corporate IP delegates have attended numerous seminars and conferences geared towards the most pressing issues facing our membership today. Annual picnics and various other events have fostered stronger bond amongst our members. Furthermore, KAIPBA Roadshow events held in Korea as recently as 2018 providing presentations for the Korea Patent Attorneys Association, Korea Intellectual Property Protection Association, the Korean Intellectual Property Office and Dankuk University have shown our commitment to liaison excellence.

We will continue to strive for excellence in serving our members, the IP community at large and the Korean IP industries with superb seminars, discussions and educational opportunities on the latest US IP developments. We will carry on our pivotal role as a bridge to Korea with collaborative opportunities and diplomatic cooperation aimed to bring US and Korean IP industries together.

KAIPBA’s IP spirit arose from the dedication and sacrifices of our first generation of Korean-American IP professionals. As we move forward, we look forward to embracing the second generation of Korean-American IP professionals in carrying on the KAIPBA’s IP spirit of excellence, service and dedication to our communities here in the US, Korea and abroad. Together we can transcend the vision and the spirit of KAIPBA to the next level.

Welcome to KAIPBA.
